出口安全阀的压力设置为
机油通过进口通道 (2) 进入阀体 (1)。 机油使滑阀 (7) 克服弹簧 (4) 和弹簧 (5) 的力移动。 机油的压力变得大于弹簧的弹力时，滑阀 (7) 的移动使机油能够流过出口油道 (3)。
机油从出口通道 (3) 流向动力传动系机油冷却器。
