143H and 163H Motor Graders All Wheel Drive Caterpillar

The ECM shows diagnostic information on the Caterpillar Monitoring System display in order to assist with troubleshooting. This control system is also designed to be used with the Electronic Technician Service Tool (ET). The ET can be used to perform several diagnostic functions and programming functions.

The following list contains some of the diagnostic functions and programming functions that are performed by the service tool.

• The diagnostic codes of the ECM system are displayed.

• The status of most of the inputs and the outputs are displayed.

• The settings for the ECM are displayed.

• Display the status of the input and output parameters in real time.

• Display the value of the internal diagnostic clock.

• The number of occurrences and the clock hour of the first occurrence and the last occurrence is displayed for each logged diagnostic code.

• The definition for each logged diagnostic code and each event is displayed.

• Load new FLASH software.

The diagnostic codes can be viewed by using any of the following systems: the Caterpillar Monitoring System and the Caterpillar Electronic Technician (ET) .

When the AWD ECM detects a diagnostic code, the ECM automatically enters the diagnostic mode. The AWD system will be disabled. The operator is notified by the Caterpillar monitoring system. A warning of a category 3 is set.

The following indicators will become active:

• The AWD lamp will flash.

• The action lamp will flash.

• The action alarm will sound.

Placing the AWD switch to the OFF position will acknowledge the alarms.

The following diagnostic codes will not disable the AWD system:

Off Mode

• CID 0390 - FMI 03 Solenoid Valve (Pump Displacement) for Forward Operation

• CID 0391 - FMI 03 Solenoid Valve (Pump Displacement) for Reverse Operation

• CID 0392 - FMI 03 Solenoid Valve (Charge)

• CID 0393 - FMI 03 Solenoid Valve (Drive)

• CID 0397 - FMI 01 Charge Pump Pressure

Automatic Mode

• CID 0168 Electrical System Voltage

• CID 0396 Indicator Lamp (All Wheel Drive)

• CID 0520 Transmission Configuration Code

• CID 0600 Hydraulic Oil Temperature

Manual Mode

• CID 0084 Speed Sensor (Ground)

• CID 0168 Electrical System Voltage

• CID 0190 Speed Sensor (Engine)

• CID 0396 Indicator Lamp (All Wheel Drive)

• CID 0520 Transmission Configuration Code

• CID 0600 Hydraulic Oil Temperature
