Piston Pump (Brake) - Install

Usage:

725 AFX

Installation Procedure

  1. Clean all parts and inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

  2. Install a new gasket (26) onto piston pump (7).

  3. Attach a suitable nylon lifting sling around piston pump (7) and to a suitable hoist. Lift piston pump (7) into position. Align the spline on the shaft of the piston pump with the spline in the gear group at the front of the engine. Install two bolts (24) and two washers (25). The weight of piston pump (7) is 16 kg (35 lb).

  4. Position block (20) with bracket (23) in order to install two bolts (21) and two washers (22). Do not tighten bolts (21). Refer to step 5.

  5. Install two half clamps (18), four bolts (16) and four washers (17) in order to connect hose (19) to block (20). Tighten two bolts (21). Refer to step 4.

  6. Install two half clamps (5), four bolts (3) and four washers (4) in order to install tube (6) onto piston pump (7). Install bolt (12), two washers (13), clip (14) and nut (15) to secure tube (6). Connect hose (11) to tube (6) and tighten retaining nut (10). Connect hose (9) to piston pump (7) and tighten retaining nut (8).

  7. Install breather hose (2) and tighten clamp (1).

End By:

  1. Install the crankcase guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR3446, "Crankcase Guard - Remove and Install".

  2. Lower the hood. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hood - Control".
