Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the rear axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Oscillating Axle (Rear) - Remove and Install".

1. Remove bolts (2) and cover (3) from rear support (1).

2. Remove thrust washer (5), bolts (4), plate (6), and thrust washer (7) from the end of the trunnion.

3. Fasten a suitable lifting strap and a hoist to rear support (1), as shown.

4. Remove rear support (1). The weight of the rear support is approximately 45 kg (100 lb).

5. Remove bolts (8) and trunnion (9). The weight of the trunnion is approximately 20 kg (45 lb).

6. Remove lip seal (10).

7. Use Tooling (A) to remove sleeve bearing (11) from rear support (1).

Installation Procedure

1. Use Tooling (A) to install sleeve bearing (11) in rear support (1).

2. Use Tooling (A) to install lip seal (10) in support (1). Install the lip seal onto the support. The lip of the seal should face toward the outside of rear support (1), as shown.

3. Put Tooling (B) on the mating surfaces of the trunnion and the housing. Put trunnion assembly (9) in position on the housing. The weight of the trunnion is approximately 20 kg (45 lb). Install bolts (8). Tighten bolts (8) to a torque of 300 ± 40 N·m (220 ± 30 lb ft).

4. Use a hoist and a suitable lifting strap in order to install support (1) on trunnion (10). The weight of the rear support is 45 kg (100 lb).

5. Install thrust washer (7), plate (6), thrust washer (5), and bolts (4). Tighten bolts (4) to a torque of 570 ± 80 N·m (420 ± 60 lb ft).

6. Remove the lifting strap and the hoist from rear support (1).

7. Install cover (3) and bolts (2) on rear support (1). Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 300 ± 40 N·m (220 ± 30 lb ft).

End By:

1. Install the rear axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Oscillating Axle (Rear) - Remove and Install".
