(E) Forward high solenoid

The following information describes the operating sequence of the solenoids and clutches when the speed and direction is selected from the transmission control.

First Speed Forward is Selected.

  • Second and third speed solenoid (B) is energized in order to disengage third speed clutch (3) .

  • First speed solenoid (C) is energized in order to engage first speed clutch (6) .

  • Forward low solenoid (D) is energized in order to engage forward low clutch (2) .

Second Speed Forward is Selected.

  • Forward low solenoid (D) is energized in order to engage forward low clutch (2) .

  • Second and third speed solenoid (B) is energized in order to engage second speed clutch (5). Third speed clutch (3) is disengaged.

Third Speed Forward is Selected.

  • Forward low solenoid (D) is energized in order to engage forward low clutch (2) .

  • Third speed clutch (3) remains engaged.

Fourth Speed Forward is Selected.

  • Forward low solenoid (D) and forward high solenoid (E) are energized in order to engage forward high clutch (4) .

  • Third speed clutch (3) remains engaged.

Neutral is Selected.

  • All solenoids are de-energized. Third speed clutch (3) is engaged.

First Speed Reverse is Selected.

  • Reverse solenoid (A) is energized in order to engage reverse clutch (1) .

  • Second and third speed solenoid (B) is energized in order to disengage third speed clutch (3) .

  • First speed solenoid (C) is energized in order to engage first speed clutch (6) .

Second Speed Reverse is Selected.

  • Reverse solenoid (A) is energized in order to engage reverse clutch (1) .

  • Second and third speed solenoid (B) is energized in order to engage second speed clutch (5). Third speed clutch (3) is disengaged.

Third Speed Reverse is Selected.

  • Reverse solenoid (A) is energized in order to engage reverse clutch (1) .

  • Third speed clutch (3) remains engaged.
