Removal Procedure

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.



NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

  1. Loosen two hose clamps (3) that hold the coolant hoses to the oil cooler. Disconnect the coolant hoses from the oil cooler.

  1. Remove engine oil filter (2) and discard engine oil filter (2). Use a new engine oil filter for reassembly.

  1. Remove four bolts (1) from the filter base.

  1. Remove engine oil filter base (4) from the cylinder block. Immediately cap all openings or plug all openings in order to prevent contamination.
