The hydraulic oil from the main control valve is supplied to the swing motor. The oil enters the swing motor through port (A) in valve plate (4). The oil enters the port in the cylinder of barrel (3) that is aligned with port (A). The oil pushes piston (2). The pushing force is converted into rotation by swashplate (5). The rotation turns shaft (1). The shaft is splined to barrel (3). The oil flows out of the swing motor through port (B). For the reverse rotation, the oil enters through port (B) and the oil exits through port (A).

Ports (A) and (B) are connected to the swing control valve. When the swing control valve is activated, the control valve allows oil to flow to the swing motor.

(6) Relief valve. (7) Relief valve. (8) Swing motor. |
The two relief valves (6) and (7) protect swing motor (8) from pressure spikes. One relief valve (6) is located in the circuit that swings the cab to the right. The other relief valve (7) is located in the circuit that swings the cab to the left. The relief valves are set at 29900 ± 980 kPa (4350 ± 140 psi).
