Fuel Tank Water and Sediment - Drain

Usage:

D350E II 2XW


NOTICE

Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.

Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.

Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.



NOTICE

Fill the fuel tank at the end of each day of operation to drive out moist air and to prevent condensation.

Do not fill the tank to the top. Fuel expands as it gets warm and may overflow.

  1. Remove the padlock on fuel tank cap (2). To equalize the pressure in the fuel tank, remove the fuel tank cap. To remove fuel tank cap (2), pull up on handle (1) and turn handle (1) counterclockwise. Remove fuel tank cap (2) .

  1. Drain hole (4) for the fuel tank is located on the front of fuel tank (5). After the fuel tank has been filled, allow the machine to stand for ten minutes. Then, drain water and sediment from the fuel tank again.

    Open purge screw (3) until the water or fuel starts to flow from drain hole (4) .

  1. Allow the water and sediment to flow into a suitable container.

  1. When the flow from fuel tank (5) is free of water, close purge screw (3) .
