Brake Oil Filter (1) With Bypass Valve (3) Spring (4) Bypass relief valve (5) Filter element |
Oil filters (1) and (2) contain filter elements (5) that remove contaminants from the oil for the brake system.
If oil flow through filter element (5) becomes restricted, the oil bypasses the filter through bypass relief valve (4). The bypass relief valve will open when the pressure in the oil filter reaches the pressure setting of the bypass relief valve. Refer to Specifications, "Oil Filter" for your machine for the pressure setting of the bypass valve.
If the filter element becomes full of debris, the restriction to the flow of oil causes a pressure increase inside the filter. The pressure oil causes bypass relief valve (4) to move against the force of spring (3). The oil then goes past open bypass relief valve (4) and to the remainder of the system.
