Removal Procedure

Start By:

1. Remove the oscillating axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Oscillating Axle (Rear) - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.

1. Place the oscillating axle on wood blocks, as shown.

2. Remove yoke (1) from the differential pinion shaft.

3. Attach a hoist and suitable lifting slings to front trunnion support (2), as shown.

4. Use Tooling (A) and the hoist to carefully remove front trunnion support (2). The weight of the front trunnion support is 68 kg (150 lb).

5. Remove two O-ring seals (3) from front trunnion support (2) .

Note: Bearing sleeve (4) is retained in the bores of the front trunnion support. Pry one side of the sleeve bearing over the top of the other side at the diagonal separation, as shown. DO NOT use a press to remove the bearing sleeve.

6. Remove sleeve bearing (4) from the front trunnion support.

Installation Procedure

1. Install sleeve bearing (4) in the front trunnion support by overlapping the sides at the diagonal separation.

2. Push sleeve bearing (4) into the counterbore of the front trunnion support. Make sure that one side of the sleeve bearing is flush with the other side at the diagonal separation.

3. Install two O-ring seals (3) in front trunnion support (2) .

4. Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease to the sleeve bearing and the O-ring seals.

5. Attach a hoist and suitable lifting slings to front trunnion support (2) .

6. Use the hoist to carefully install front trunnion support (2) on the oscillating axle. The weight of the front trunnion support is 68 kg (150 lb).

7. Install yoke (1) on the differential pinion shaft.

End By: Install the oscillating axle. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Oscillating Axle (Rear) - Remove and Install" for the machine that is being serviced.
