Retarder Solenoid Control Valve - Assemble

Usage:

Assembly Procedure

Inspect all parts and clean all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new Caterpillar parts for replacement.

Install the O-ring seals to the plugs and the orifices. Install plugs (22) and orifices (23) to valve body (4) . Install orifice (24) to valve body (4) .

Install plug (21) to valve body (4) .

Install O-ring seal (20) to pressure switch (19) .

Install pressure switch (19) to valve body (4) .

Install backup ring (18) , O-ring seal (15) , backup ring (17) , O-ring seal (14) , and O-ring seal (16) to cartridges (11) and (13) .

Cartridges (13) and (11) must be tightened to a torque of 25 ± 5 N·m (18 ± 4 lb ft). Install cartridge (13) to valve body (4) . Install nut (12) , the washer, coil assembly (10) and cartridge (11) to valve body (4) . Nut (12) must be tightened to a torque of 3.0 ± 0.5 N·m (27 ± 5 lb in) .

Install coil assembly (9) to valve body (4) . Install nut (8) and the washer to coil assembly (9) . Nut (8) must be tightened to a torque of 3.0 ± 0.5 N·m (27 ± 5 lb in) .

Install backup ring (6) , O-ring seal (7) and O-ring seal (5) to cartridge (3) .

Install cartridge (3) to valve body (4) . Cartridge (3) must be tightened to a torque of 50 ± 5 N·m (37 ± 4 lb ft) .

Install coil assembly (1) to cartridge (3) .

Install nut (2) to coil assembly (1) . Nut (2) must be tightened to a torque of 5.5 ± 1.5 N·m (49 ± 13 lb in) .
