Installation Procedure

Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the installation procedure, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned in cleaning fluid. Allow the parts to air dry. Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble.

1. Check all of the O-ring seals and the components for wear or damage. Replace the components, if necessary.

2. Lubricate all of the O-ring seals lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed.

3. Install O-ring seal (10) onto piston pump (1).

4. Install elbow (6) and the O-ring seal onto piston pump (1), as shown.

5. Attach a suitable lifting sling and a hoist to piston pump (1). Use the hoist to position piston pump (1) for installation. The weight of piston pump (1) is 34 kg (75 lb).

6. Use two bolts (8) and washers in order to install piston pump (1) to the pump drive.

7. Remove the lifting sling and the hoist from piston pump (1).

8. Connect hose assembly (9) to the pump drive.

9. Connect hose assembly (7) to elbow (6).

10. Use two bolts (4), two bolts (5) and the washers to connect tube assembly (3) to piston pump (1).

11. Connect hose assembly (2) to piston pump (1).

12. Fill the steering hydraulic tank with hydraulic oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7173, "Steering System Oil - Change" for the correct procedure.

End By:

1. Remove the retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install".

2. Remove the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
