Removal Procedure
At the operating temperature, the engine jacket water system is hot and under pressure. Hot engine coolant and steam can cause burns. Remove the breather cap when the engine is stopped and the breather cap is cool enough to touch. Slowly loosen the breather cap in order to release any pressure in the tank. Be cautious of hot engine coolant when any hose assemblies are disconnected in the engine coolant system. |
- Remove twelve screws (3) .

- Slightly open front cover (5). Open the front cover enough to loosen two hose clamps (2). Open the front cover enough to disconnect hoses (3) and (4) .

- Put the front cover aside. Be careful not to damage the thermostat capillary tube.
Note: When the cover is opened, do not allow the thermostat capillary tube to be crimped. If this tube is crimped, the thermostat must be replaced.

- Identify the position of three electrical connectors (6). Remove nut (7), the washer, and the clip. Disconnect the harness.

- Remove nut (9), bolt (10), the small washers, and the large washers.
- Repeat Step 5 for remaining connection (7). Remove resistor (8) .
Installation Procedure
- Install resistor (8) .

- Install the large washers, the small washers, bolt (10), and nut (9) .
- Repeat Step 2 for remaining connection (7) .
- Connect three electrical connectors (6). Install clip (9), the washer, and nut (7) .
- Position the front cover. Be careful not to damage the thermostat capillary tube.
Note: When the cover is installed, do not allow the thermostat capillary tube to be crimped. If this tube is crimped, the thermostat must be replaced.

- Connect hoses (3) and (4). Tighten two hose clamps (2). Close front cover (5) .
