Lubrication System Oil Level - Check

Usage:

HH45 2JZ

Illustration 1g00369293

The lubricating oil tank is located on the head by the hydraulic control valve. Position the head in the horizontal position. Open the filler cap that is located on the top of the lubricating oil tank. Add enough oil in order to fill the lubricating oil tank.

Biodegradable oil is suitable for lubricating the saw chain. Add lubricating oil daily in order to ensure that the lubricating oil tank is full.

Table 1
Harvester Head Refill Capacities
Lubrication Oil Tank     Refill Capacity
HH45 Harvester Head
4.6 L (4.86 qt)
HH55 Harvester Head
7.9 L (8.35 qt)
HH65 Harvester Head
7.9 L (8.35 qt)
HH75 Harvester Head
11 L (11.6 qt)

Observe the filler cap for oil leaks. If leaks are observed, use the following procedures in order to stop the leak.

  1. Remove the filler cap assembly.

  1. Remove breather (1), ball (3) and spring (5) from the filler cap assembly.

  1. Ensure that spring (5) is clean and free of corrosion.

Note: Spring (5) should move freely in fitting (4) .

  1. Place breather (1) upside-down on a flat surface.

  1. Place the steel ball (3) on the breather (1) .

    (1) Breather. (3) Steel Ball.

  1. Lightly, strike steel ball (3) by using a brass hammer. This will form a better seal.

  1. Reassemble the filler cap assembly. Be sure that steel ball (3) is seated on spring (5) that is located in the filler cap. Be sure that the spring is pressing the steel ball upward.

  1. Install filler cap assembly onto the lubrication oil tank. Check for proper operation of the lubricating system.

Reference: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Saw Chain Lubrication System-Inspect/Adjust" for information on inspecting and troubleshooting the lubrication system.
