Start By:
- Install the retaining cable. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Truck Body Retaining Cable - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.
- Remove the drive shaft guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Drive Shaft Guard - Remove and Install" for the correct procedure.

The space between the body and the frame becomes a zero clearance area when the body is lowered. Failure to install the retaining cable can result in injury or death to personnel working in this area. |
Personal injury can result from hot oil or hot components. At operating temperature, oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. Remove the fill cap only when the engine is stopped, and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin. |
- Drain the hydraulic oil from the steering system.
- Remove four bolts (3), the four washers, and split flange (4). Disconnect hose assembly (5).
- Disconnect hose assembly (2). Remove fitting (1).

- Disconnect hose assembly (9). Remove fitting (10).
- Use a suitable lifting device to support the weight of steering pump (12). The steering pump weighs approximately
61 kg (134 lb) . - Remove four bolts (11), the four washers, and the pump.
