Problem:
With the 137-8899 shifter in forward or reverse, and the neutralizer push-button switch depressed, the transmission will neutralize as expected. However, if the neutralizer switch is depressed and released very quickly, the transmission may remain in neutral, and the directional clutch solenoid may not be reenergized. When this occurs, the 137-8899 shifter must first be moved to neutral before the desired directional clutch can be energized.
Solution:
Engineering is investigating a change to the 137-8899 shifter which will address this problem. News of this change will be announced in a future service magazine article. As an interim solution, operators should be instructed to depress and hold the neutralizer push-button switch down for 0.5 second to insure proper operation of the transmission neutralizer feature.
