THIS TIB REPLACES THE SEPTEMBER 2, 1998 WHEEL TRACTOR, LANDFILL COMPACTORS, AND WHEEL LOADER TIB, COMPONENT CODE: 7301, 7320 "AIR CONDITIONER LEAKING CONDENSATION INTO CAB". DESTROY THE SEPTEMBER 2, 1998 TIB. IT WILL NOT APPEAR IN THE QUARTERLY INDEX.

Problem:

Reference: Service Manual Module, SENR5737, Disassembly & Assembly 988F Wheel Loader Machine Systems; Page 164-167, "Air conditioner & Condenser". This is found in Service Manual, SENR1355, 988F Series II Wheel Loader Volume II.

There have been reports of condensation, from the air conditioning units, leaking into the cabs of some of the machines listed above.

Solution:

Inspect the air inlet filter and seal for wear or damage. If the filter or seal is damaged, replace the damaged part. Check the air bypass filters to ensure the filters are not plugged. Check the filter housing, ducting, and air conditioning box for air leaks. If air leaks are present, seal the leaks with 4C-9613 Silicone Sealant.

Inspect the operation of the 7T-9793 Valve in the condensate drain line. Plug the open end of the drain line. If condensation starts to drain from the air conditioning unit, the valve is defective and should be replaced with a new 7T-9793 Valve.

If no condensation drains into the drain line, the problem is the result of incorrect or missing sealant on the welded seams in 3E-7122 Case Assembly (3). Remove the 109-7166 Air Conditioner Group from the top of the cab, according to the Reference. Remove cover (1) by removing sixteen bolts (2). Apply 4C-9613 Silicone Sealant to all interior weld joints and openings in the base of 3E-7122 Case Assembly (3).

To test for leaks, pour approximately 1-liter(34 fl. oz) of water into the case assembly. If leaks are present, drain the water and dry the case assembly. Apply sealant again. Repeat until no leaks are present.

Replace the cab headliner if it has been damaged.
