Speed Of Outriggers Caterpillar

Speed Of Outriggers

Usage:

TELEHANDLERSTH103 (3PN) TELEHANDLERS

Problem:

The speed at which the outriggers move may be considered too fast.

Solution:

Shims can be added to the solenoids on the 118-1499 outrigger control valve sections part of the 129-6209 Directional Control Valve to reduce the speed of the outriggers. These shims must be a non ferrous material. The 114-3364 Sealing Washer can be modified to accommodate as shims.

Reference: SENR1230 Service Manual TH103 Telehandler, SENR1239 Systems Operation Testing & Adjusting TH103 Telehandler Hydraulic System

1. Park the machine on level ground, set park brake, turn machine off, and tag machine for maintenance.
2. Locate the 118-1499 outrigger control valve sections (3)(4) on the 129-6209 Directional Control Valve. See Illustration 1.

NOTE: The same modification should be performed for each solenoid controlling an outrigger going in the same direction. (5) (6) or (7) (8) should be shimmed the same.

3. Remove Nut, O-Ring, and Coil from the end of the outrigger valve section to be adjusted.
4. Remove the tube from the valve by unscrewing the clamp flange.
5. Remove the tube internals by pulling on the exposed spring bushing. The tube internals are retained by the o-ring.
6. Remove the "C" Clip (9) and lift off the spring bushing (10), spring (11), and Pole (12). See Illustration 2.
7. Add two 114-3364 Sealing Washers (1) to begin. Place the shims on top of the existing "anti-residual washer" (13). See Illustration 2.
8. Check operation of the outriggers. See Operation & Maintenance Manual. If the outriggers move at a speed that is satisfactory then put machine back into service.
