PROBLEM
Certain C175-20 Engines can experience block fretting at scavenge pump mounting surface that can lead to premature failures and resultant damage. |
ACTION REQUIRED
The following Reman C175-20 Engines were built with Reman blocks prior to increased inspection and documentation of the scavenge pump mounting surface. Engine Arrangement: 20R4668 Engine Serial Number: HN400200, HN400202, HN400206, HN400207, HN400208, HN400209, HN400210, HN400211, HN400216, HN400222 Engine Arrangement: 20R7015 Engine Serial Number: RMR00113, RMR00115, RMR00117, RMR00118, RMR00119, RMR00120, RMR00121, RMR00123, RMR00124 1. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, KENR6052, "Engine Oil Pan-Remove - C175-20", for instructions to remove the front section of the oil pan. 2. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, KENR6052, "Engine Oil Scavenge Pump - Remove", for instructions to remove scavenge pump. (Image 1) Take photos of the scavenge pump mounting pads on the pan rail and the mounting pads on the scavenge pump. Send all photos via a Parts Technical DSN Request to Reman Service Engineer for evaluation and direction on how to proceed. 3. Following direction from the Parts Technical DSN Request, refer to Disassembly and Assembly, KENR6052, "Engine Oil Scavenge Pump - Install", for instructions to install the oil pump. HN4 Serial Prefix Engines must have the existing oil scavenge pump replaced with a 20R7833 Oil Scavenge Pump. 4. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly KENR6052, "Engine Oil Pan - Install - C175-20" for instructions to install the front section of the oil pan. |

20.0 hours are allowed for each engine reworked in dealer parts stock. The parts listed in Image 2 are allowed for each engine reworked in dealer parts stock. 20R7833 Oil Scavenge Pump is allowed only for HN4 Serial Prefix Engines. Include the engine serial number(s) in the claim. |
