NOTE: | This Program must be administered either before or after failure. In either case the decision whether to apply the Program is made by the dealer. When reporting the repair, use "PS45878" as the Part Number and "7755" as the Group Number. If administered before failure, use "56" as the Warranty Claim Description Code and "T" as the SIMS Description code. If administered after failure, use "96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code. |

PROBLEM
The 192-5692 Steering Arm can crack on certain 797, 797B, and 797F Off-Highway Trucks. If the existing steering arm fails it can cause unplanned downtime. |

ACTION REQUIRED
The steering arm should be inspected using a mag particle inspection (wet or dry). Details on how to inspect the arm can be located in M0092961. If results of the inspection do not meet the reusability as defined in M0092961, the steering arm should be replaced. To claim this program, the SIMSi entry must include: -NUMERALKOD of the steering arm(s) and location on machine (Left or Right) -Pictures of any cracks found during the inspection -Measurements of any cracks found during the inspection |

If there has been a previous repair, part age/hours will apply. Retain a copy of the previous repair invoice in the dealer's records for audit purposes, and specify repair date and machine hours in the "Additional Comments" section of the warranty claim. |

NOTE: 1.5 hours is allowed for a single arm inspection. If both arms are being inspected, an addition 1.5 hours of labor is allowed. NOTE: If the inspection is performed by an outside supplier include the outside expenses at cost instead of claiming the labor. Attach a copy of all invoices for outside expenses to the SIMSi entry. $150 USD may be claimed per inspection. If both arms are being inspected at the same time, $300 USD may be claimed. Inspections should be performed by a Level 1 or higher certified technician. NOTE: If part hours are unknown, the NUMERALKOD can be used to determine the part age. Parts that were manufactured within 85 months of the inspection date may claim this program. NOTE: To claim this program, the SIMSi entry must include: -NUMERALKOD of the steering arm(s) and location on machine (Left or Right) -Pictures of any cracks found during the inspection -Measurements of any cracks found during the inspection NOTE: This program may be applied multiple times based upon crack length found on previous inspection. -Steering arms with surface cracks up to 76.2 mm (3.0 inch) in length should continue to operate and be inspected every 4,000 hours for crack propagation. -Steering arms with surface cracks greater than 76.2 mm (3.0 inch) and up to 127 mm (5.0 inch) in length should continue to operate and be inspected every 2,000 hours for crack propagation. -Steering arms with surface cracks greater than 127 mm (5.0 inch) and up to 152.4 mm (6.0 inch) in length should continue to operate and be inspected every 1,000 hours for crack propagation. |
