PROBLEM

ACTION REQUIRED
Note: Ensure that all safety information, warnings, and instructions are read and understood before any operation or any maintenance procedures are performed. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual "Safety Section". 1. Park the machine with the boom resting on the ground. Depending on how low the boom is you may need a step ladder to inspect the upper welds at the stick end. 2. Clean all welds at both ends where the castings meet the spar tube so that any cracks will be clearly visible. Refer to Images1 and 2 for the inspection locations. - If the boom is found to be cracked, the machine must be taken out of service immediately. Attached are images of cracked weld joints for reference. Refer to Images3 and 4. Repair the boom according to M0075680, Special Instruction, "Weld Rework Procedure for Boom Casting to Plate Joints on Certain Knuckleboom Loaders". - If the boom is NOT found to be cracked, no further rework is required. |

The existing main boom can crack. As a daily machine walk around the operator must be inspecting all structures of the machine, including the main boom, and informing the dealer of issues found as stated in the machine's Operation and Maintenance Manual. You will not be charged for the service performed. Contact your local Cat dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service. If you are no longer the owner of this product, please contact your local Cat dealer so that our records can be updated. Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 24Aug2016 when scheduling this service.
