PROBLEM
Certain 340-1167 Steering Column Group may contain a weld flaw that may cause the column shaft to separate. |
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect all 340-1167 Steering Column Groups in dealer parts stock. To identify the lot number by following the steps below. 1. Pull Lever to allow upper shaft to telescope to full out position. Image 1. 2. Grasp under end of upper cover as shown. Image 2. 3. Pull up sharply to remove upper cover. Image 3 4. The label with the lot number is affixed to the underside of the upper cover. Image 4. 5. Remove all 340-1167 Steering Column Groups with lot numbers 114114 and 114120 from dealer parts stock. Image 5. 6. For all other 340-1167 Steering Column Groups except lot numbers 114114 and 114120, mark the package to indicate that the part has been inspected according to this program and return the part to dealer parts stock. For columns that are removed from dealer parts stock, refer to the Parts Disposition section. |

PARTS DISPOSITION
NACD: Hold all 340-1167 Steering Column Groups for a Parts Return Request (PRR). A Parts Return Request (PRR) will be issued to you through the Send-It-Back process after the claim is submitted. Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork. EAME, LACD, and APD: Hold all 340-1167 Steering Column Groups for 30 days for a possible Parts Return Request (PRR). Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork. Please send the details that include the Service claim number, Dealer code, Dealer Claim number and Work Order number to JACOB_JAY_Y@CAT.COM for initiating a possible Parts Return Request (PRR). If a Parts Return Request (PRR) is not issued to you after 30 days through the Send-It-Back process, handle the parts in accordance with your warranty bulletin on warranty parts handling. |
