This instruction gives the procedure to install a new 9H6249 Shaft Assembly, 4H9073 and 4H9640 Bearings and/or 4H8986 Thrust Washers in the engine rear P.T.O. (power take-off) on the above machines. If there is a bearing failure, all new bearings and thrust washers on the P.T.O. shaft must be installed. If a new P.T.O. driveshaft is installed, all the bearings and thrust washers must also be installed.
NOTICE |
---|
If the former P.T.O. shaft is used again, a thorough inspection of the bearing surfaces must be made and all rough areas must be removed. The procedures given in this instruction must be followed carefully to get a good quality repair job. |
1 Remove cover (1), driveshaft (2) and bearing cage (3); see the Service Manual. Remove the bearings from cover (1) and cage (3). Remove bearing (4) and thrust washers (5). Inspect the bearing surfaces on driveshaft (2). If there are nicks, scratches or burrs (rough areas) in the bearing surfaces, use fine emery paper to make the areas smooth.
2 Use a press to install 4H9073 Bearing (6) in cage (3). Install a 4H9640 Bearing (7) in housing (8) and one in cover (1). Put engine oil on bearings (7) and on the bearing surfaces of 9H6249 Shaft Assembly (9). Install 4H8986 Thrust Washers (10) on shaft (9). Put engine oil on the thrust washers and install shaft (9); use care not to hit bearing (7) with the splines on the end of the shaft. Install cover (1) with a 4H9629 Gasket.
3 Put engine oil on the bearing in cage (3) and install the cage over shaft (9); use care not to hit the splines on the shaft with the bearing. Install the remainder of the parts on the tractor; see the Service Manual.
Procedure To Run Engine (No Load)
A Start the engine and run it for two minutes at low idle (475 rpm) and no load. Increase the engine speed by 200 rpm at a time and run it for one minute in each speed range up to high idle speed (1425 rpm). Run the engine two minutes at high idle and then at low idle for one minute.
Procedure To Run Engine (With Load)
A With the engine at high idle, raise and lower the blade, but do not extend or retract the lift cylinders to the limit of their travel.
B Run the engine at high idle speed with no load for two to three minutes.
C At high idle speed, raise and lower the blade, and extend and retract the lift cylinders to the limit of their travel.
D Do step B, again.
E Do step C, again. With the completion of these steps, the machine can be run under normal conditions and procedures for operation.
