A switch on the console causes injection of ether into the intake manifold. A thermal switch prevents ether injection if the coolant temperature is above 38°C (100°F). The only service necessary is replacement of the canister when it is empty. 7N0296 Ether Cylinder is used and is available separately from your Caterpillar Dealer.
(1) Remove the bolt and fasten 3T2290 Brace (1) to the manifold bracket with S1571 Bolt (2). Remove two bolts and fasten 7G6359 Box Assembly (3) to the cylinder head with two 2H9233 Spacers (4), two 8F8544 Bolts (5) and 5M2894 Washers.
(2) Fasten brace (1) to box (3) with two S1594 Bolts (6), 5P1075 Washers and 1D4717 Nuts. Install 4M7470 Grommet.
(3) Install 6D1746 Bolt (7) to box (3) with 63801 Washer (8), L1365 Washer (9) and 3B4610 Cotter Pin.
(4) Install two 7N2059 Clamps (10) with four S1617 Bolts (11), 5P4116 Washers and 1D4716 Nuts. Install 6N7674 Valve Assembly (12) with two S1617 Bolts (11), 5P4116 Washers and 1D4716 Nuts. Put plug (13) on the valve to keep out any dirt.
(5) Remove the manifold plug and install 9G0343 Nozzle (14) so the orifice is in line with the manifold [chisel marks (15) are in line with the orifice]. Put 5P7907 Connector (16) in nozzle (14); connect 3T2287 Tube Assembly (17) between connector (16) and valve (12).
(6) Remove the plug and install 6N5899 Switch (18); connect 3T2289 Wire Assembly (19) to switch (18). Fasten wire (19) to pipe (20) with 6K8179 Clip (21). Connect the loose end of wire (19) to valve wire (22). Connect 3T2288 Wire Assembly (23) to valve wire (24) and fasten wire (23) to pipe (25) with 6K8179 Clip (21).
(7) Connect purple wire (23) to purple wire (24) of the existing wiring harness (25).
(8) D7G, 571G. Install 3T0306 Switch (26) in the dash and connect purple wire (27) of the existing wiring harness, to switch (26).
(8) 572G. Install 3T0306 Switch (26) in the seat panel and connect purple wire (27) of the existing wiring harness to switch (26).
(9) Connect 8P9365 Wire Assembly (28) to switch (26) and connect 3T2927 Wire Assembly (29) to start switch (30). Install 2S6024 Fuse between wire assemblies (28) and (29).
