New Parts Used To Improve Chain Clearance {4192,7228}

Description of Change: New parts are used to increase the space between the tire and the pendulum arm of the machines listed. The increased space widens the tread width of the machines and may be needed in order to install tire chains on the machines listed.

Adaptable To: The new parts are adaptable to first production for the machines listed.

The new parts are used on the front and rear wheels of the following four-wheel machines: 487 (6KW) and 495 (5TZ) Tree Harvesters, 550 (7ZN) and 570 (4XR) Wheel Harvesters.

The new parts are used on the rear wheels only of the following six-wheel machines: 687 (4FZ) and 695 (8MW) Tree Harvesters, 580 (7CN) Wheel Harvesters.

NOTE: 174-1467 Bolt Kit contains 10 bolts.

Installation Procedure

1. Remove the wheel that the spacer is to be installed on.

Reference: For additional information on removing the wheels, refer to the Service Manual module Disassembly and Assembly "Wheel - Remove" for the machine that is being serviced.


(1) 160-2158 Spacer.
(2) Bolt.
(3) 174-0985 Nut.
(4) 174-0986 Washer.

2. Install one new 174-1467 Bolt Kit (2) in one new 160-2158 Spacer (1).


(5) Spacer group.
(6) Hub.

3. Install one spacer group (5) on to hub (6). Install ten washers (4) and nuts (3). Torque for the nuts equals 550 ± 25 N·m (400 ± 20 lb ft).

4. Install the wheel.
