In addition, the "Bearing Adjustment Procedure" in the same referenced Specifications on Final Drive is incorrect. The correct "Bearing Adjustment Procedure" is as follows:
Bearing Adjustment Procedure:
The tool that is required for the bearing adjustment procedure is the 5P-4204 Spanner Wrench.
NOTE: The procedure that follows must be used to put the correct amount of preload on the bearings for the final drive. The planetary (11) and axle (6) should be removed so that the housing (13) is oriented in the vertical position with the flange down.
1. While you tighten nut (7) with the spanner wrench, rotate shaft (12) and hit the hub of sprockets (4).
2. Tighten nut (7) to a torque of 12 + 1 N·m (100 + 10 lb in) above seal drag. This is required in order to rotate the shaft.
3. Back off nut (7) to one locking position and hit the hub of sprockets (4) again.
4. \The final torque that is needed to rotate shaft (6) should be 4 + 1 N·m (35 + 10 lb in) above the seal drag.
