Certain Off-Highway Tractors and Trucks are equipped with an electric software group which will allow a bypass of the Engine Pre-lubrication System. If machine has an Engine Pre-lubrication System, a "P" will appear on the operator's display and the engine will go through Pre-Lubrication before starting. This bypass procedure is effective with 776D (5ER) Tractors; 771D (6JR), 775D (6KR) Quarry Trucks; 769D (5TR), 773D (7ER), 777D (3PR), 793C (4AR) Off-Highway Trucks equipped with 142-7122, 142-7125, 142-7128, 142-7131, 151-2155 or 146-9358 Electric Software Groups. This procedure is not adaptable to earlier models.
Procedure For Engine Pre-Lubrication System Bypass On Certain Off-Highway Trucks
To bypass the Engine Pre-Lubrication System, turn the key start switch to the CRANK position for a minimum of two seconds. The Electronic Programmable Transmission Control (EPTC) begins the Engine Pre-Lubrication System. While the Engine Pre-Lubrication System is active, turn the key to the OFF position and within ten seconds, turn the switch to the CRANK position. It is recommended to pre-check at least once that this will bypass the Pre-Lubrication System and the engine will crank. If applicable to your machine please add this procedure to the Operation and Maintenance Manual.
NOTE: Engine Pre-Lubrication bypass should only be used in rare situations and only after engine lubrications are at operating temperatures. Any Engine Pre-Lubrication bypass will be logged into the Electronic Control Module (ECM) and can only be cleared by a factory password.
