New Replacement Procedure For Hydraulic Hoses Inside The Telescopic Material Handler Boom {5057,6460}

Usage:

TH62 (4TM, 3LN),
TH63 (5WM, 3NN),
TH82 (3JN, 3KN),
TH83 (3RN),
TH103 (3PN) Telehandlers

Reference: Disassembly and Assembly, TH62, TH63, TH82, and TH83 Machine Systems, SENR5846.

The improved method for pre-setting hoses inside the boom of telehandlers is described below.

NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the boom or any boom sections from the machine to replace hoses inside the boom. The procedure for removal and installation of boom hoses is detailed in the Reference.

1. Remove hoses to be replaced from the boom. Discard the clamps which secure the hoses to the front of the boom. The clamps must be replaced with 134-2939 Hose Clamps when the hoses are installed.

Some TH63 and TH83 machines are also equipped with a hose clamp at the rear of the number three boom section. This must be removed and discarded.

2. Refer to Illustration 1 and the table below. Mark each hose at dimension (A) from the seal face.

Illustration 2.

NOTE: Step 3 is for TH62 and TH82 Models Only. Go to Step 4 for other models.

3. Lay the hoses out in pairs: 122-3728 with 122-3730 and 122-3729 with 122-3731. Ensure the hook shaped fittings are in line and connect each pair together with tie wraps. Locate the first at 200 mm (7.9 in) from the rear of the fittings and then space the ties straps at intervals of 450 mm (17.8 in). The tie wraps must be installed so that the locks will face to the outside of the boom when the hoses are installed as shown in Illustration 2.

4. Install the hoses into the boom with the hook shaped fittings at the rear of the cut outs in the bottom of the number one boom section. If necessary, shift the steel pipes attached to the boom section rearward and tighten the hardware. Connect the fittings on the hook shaped end of the hose. Do not connect the fittings at the boom head.

5. Install the 134-2939 Hose Clamps at the boom head with 8T-6912 Bolts (Grade 10.9) and hand tighten the bolts at this stage.

6. Pull the hoses through the clamps until the dimension (A) lines marked in Step 2 are in line with the front of the clamps.

7. Ensure the hoses are not twisted and tighten the clamp bolts to 25 N·m (19 lb ft).

8. Connect the hoses to the attachment coupler tilt cylinder and auxiliary valve ensuring that they are not twisted and are routed clear of the attachment coupler tilt cylinder lock valve.

NOTE: Re-tighten the hose fittings after testing the machine.
