The 118-8167 Repair Kit is now available to improve seat cushion beading if a problem should exist with loose beading of the seat pan or back pan. The following repair procedure describes the steps necessary to repair the loose beading.
Repair Procedure
Back Pan
Illustration 1.
1. Remove back pan from seat by removing four 8 mm (.31 in) 6V-8202 Bolts (1).
2. Where beading is loose, pull it clear of the metal back pan.
3. Gently squeeze the beading closed with pliers or similar crimping tool.
4. Tap trimming clips onto the edge of the metal pan with a small hammer in the following locations:
-
- * 3 clips - equally spaced along the top edge.
- * 3 clips - equally spaced along each side.
- * 4 clips - off along the bottom edge, ensuring that two clips locate beading ends.
- * 3 clips - equally spaced along the top edge.
5. Replace beading with hand pressure or, if necessary, tap with a soft hammer/mallet.
6. Replace black metal cover over beading ends.
7. Install back pan on seat.
Seat Pan
1. Remove the back assembly from the seat. Use procedure from Step 1 under Back Pan procedure.
2. Remove two shoulder bolts from the rear sides of the seat pan with a 1/4inch AF Allen key.
3. Remove chrome retainer caps from front height riser assembly.
4. Lift rear of seat pan forward then rotate to release from front height riser brackets.

5. Remove six 8T-3991 Screws (2) and six 8T-4205 Washers (3) to release height riser brackets from underside of metal seat pan.
6. Reassemble beading using Steps 2 thru 6 under back pan procedure.
7. Reverse procedure to reassemble seat pan assembly.
8. Install back assembly.
