Usage:
CP-323 (6JD),
CS-323 (6JD, 1TM) Vibratory Compactors
Description of Change: A guard has been added to protect the grease line for the drum weight shaft. The new guard provides protection for the grease line if debris falls into the drum.
Adaptable To: The new 116-5281 Guard Channel is effective with CP-323 (6JD439), and CS-323 (1TM58). The new guard is adaptable to previous machines CP-323 and CS-323 (6JD304-438) and CS-323 (1TM1-57).
Machines prior to CP-323 and CS-323 (6JD304) have a remote grease line design. The 116-5281 Guard Channel can also be installed on these machines if the additional modifications in Illustration 2 are made.
To install the new 116-5281 Guard Channel, remove the existing grease line components as shown in Illustrations 1 or 2.

Illustration 5. CS-323 (Smooth) Drum Only Replace the existing 098-1991 Hose with a 116-6062 Hose.
For the CS-323 machines, it will also be necessary to replace the existing 098-1991 Hose with a 116-6062 Hose. See Illustration 5 for the location of the hose.
NOTE: It is not necessary to replace the 098-1991 Hose on the CP-323 machines.
Add a 122-9513 Film (drum lubrication instructions) to the left side of the control console as shown in Illustration 6.
Illustration 6. Left Side Of Control Console Locate and install 122-9513 Film as shown (arrow).
After completing the installation of the new guard, verify that the drum is operating at the correct vibrations per minute. The drum should vibrate at 2100 VPM (vibrations per minute) with the engine at 2525 ± 75 rpm.
NOTE: Place the drum of the machine up on tires to isolate the vibration when measuring the vibrations per minute.
