SERVICE MAGAZINE; FEBRUARY 12, 1990; PAGE 7; "Use Correct Method When Installing Center Bonded Mounts," on all Articulated Dump Trucks. Add the Note that follows before Step 1. Also, Illustration 1 is not complete. The correct Illustration 1 follows.

NOTE: Be sure there is a small chamfer on both edges of the hole where the rubber mount is to be installed. The edges of the hole must be smooth and free of burrs to prevent damage to the rubber mount.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

It is important to use the correct procedure when installing center bonded mounts. These mounts are typically used for fuel and hydraulic tank applications. Illustration 1 shows a mount before installation and Illustration 2 shows a mount after installation. Incorrect installation can result in damage to the mount.

Procedure

1. Lubricate the mount and socket area with 5P3975 Rubber Lubricant or soft soap. Do NOT use grease or oil.

2. Locate the mount in the socket.

3. Install tooling as shown in Illustration 3. The tooling can be fabricated to the dimensions given. The spacer tube must contact only the metal sleeve of the mount.

4. Draw the mount into the socket until it is fully seated. Do NOT hammer on the mount. Remove the tooling used to install the mount in the socket.

5. Complete the assembly as shown in Illustration 2.
