New Mounting Bracket Improves Operation Of Hoist Cable{5136}

Usage:

D40D Trucks

Description of Change: A new bracket (cable anchor assembly) is used to secure the hoist cable to the hoist section of the suspension/hoist valve. The new arrangement uses jam nuts to provide more clearance between the cable outer nuts and the bracket. This improves the operation of the hoist control by providing some self-alignment between the cable and the valve spool. The new bracket also gives improved access to the outer cable nuts.

Adaptable To: The change is in effect with machine number 2JJ32. The new arrangement can be installed on earlier trucks.

Parts required are listed in the chart.

1. Make sure the hoist lever is in the FLOAT position and the body is fully lowered.

2. Remove pin (1) securing the cable adapter to the hoist valve spool.

3. Remove nut (2) and withdraw the cable from the bracket.

4. Remove and discard former bracket (3).

5. Install new bracket (4) and fasten the cable as shown in Illustration 2 with nuts (2) and (4). Clearance (A) should be the minimum necessary to ensure alignment of the cable when the control lever is operated. The TOTAL clearance should be 0.5 to 1.5 mm (.02 to .06").
