Procedure To Charge Air Conditioner Using Receiver Dryer Sight Glass{7320,7322}

Usage:

All Models Equipped With Receiver Dryer Sight Glass

SUPPLEMENT: 04/30/90

SERVICE MAGAZINE; FEBRUARY 12, 1990; PAGE 17; "Procedure To Charge Air Conditioner Using Receiver Dryer Sight Glass" on all models equipped with receiver dryer sight glass. Disregard this article. See Service Manual Form SENR3334-01, Page 22, "Refrigerant Quick-Check Procedures" for an accurate procedure for checking and adjusting refrigerant charge without completely discharging the system.

--------------- END SUPPLEMENT ---------------

The following information explains the correct way to add refrigerant either when there is a partial charge or when bubbles appear in the sight glass of the receiver dryer. Bubbles appear in the sight glass when the liquid level in the receiver dryer is lower than the end of the tube.

When charging the air conditioner, the sight glass will not have bubbles when the liquid is above the end of the tube. Once the bubbles disappear, add:

4 N (one lb) of refrigerant for a 9D6888 Receiver Dryer or,
9 N (two lb) of refrigerant for a 6P1309, 8T8642, 5V5698 or 9W0549 Receiver Dryer.

At this point, the receiver dryer will be full.

For complete information see the Service Manual on Air Conditioning and Heating, Form No. SENR3334-01.
