According to field reports, information now available about installation of track shoe nuts is not clear. These nuts are made with round edges on one side, and a larger radius all around the other side. The side with the round edges has the most flat surface area, and this side must be installed next to the track link. The round edges fit into the notch of the track link to prevent rotation of the nut when the bolt is tightened. The opposite side of the nut (with the larger radius) will not fit tightly in the track link notch, and can possibly work loose. Be sure to install the nuts with the side that has the largest flat surface next to the track link as shown in the illustration.
