Usage:
776B Tractors;
777B, 785, 789 Trucks
Description of Change: For a period of time, the torque converter filter base on the above machines did not contain a drain hole. This drain has been reinstated. The new drain port has a small O-ring plug, and is located in the bottom of the filter base opposite the mounting bracket. (The previous drain plug was on the side of the filter base.) Thus, oil in the filter housing can be drained when the filters are changed and minimize the possibility of getting foreign material in the torque converter and its valves.
Adaptable To: The drain plug is a part of the 4T4760 Filter Group and this group number did not change. The plug is effective with the following PIN's:
- 776B Tractor: 6JC70
- 777B Truck: 4YC581
- 785 Truck: 8GB270
- 789 Truck: 9ZC162
- 777B Truck: 4YC581
The interim machines that do not have the drain plug can be modified so a drain plug can be installed. Obtain a 9J6419 Adapter and add a drain hole as shown.
Machining dimensions for the drain hole plug with a seal that can be added to the 9J6419 Adapter.
Install the adapter in the inlet line at the filter base. Use four 8T9389 Bolts, one 7F8267 Seal, and one 9S4182 plug.
