Usage:
227 Loggers, And 225 Excavators With Special Application Undercarriage
Prints are now available for new FT1667 and FT1668 Beam Assemblies. The new FT1667 Beam Assembly (Front) and FT1668 Beam Assembly (Rear) are used with jack stands as supports for the upper structure of 227 Loggers during undercarriage removal. While the 227 Loggers are similar to 225 Excavators, existing tools can not be used because of the differences in the undercarriage. The new beam assemblies are made for use with the longer, wider and heavier undercarriage of the 227 Loggers, and can also be used for 225 Excavators which are equipped with the special application undercarriage.
The FT1667 and FT1668 Beam Assemblies are made from wide flange (W8X40) I-beams, with steel plates and jack stand sockets welded to them. The difference between the front (FT1667) and rear (FT1668) assemblies is in the length and location of the steel plates on each beam. The plates control the location of contact, to make sure the weight is supported (held) at the desired location. Also, the plates are used as spacers to give clearance between the beam and other parts of the machine, where contact is not desired. When the new beam assemblies are used for undercarriage removal, be sure each beam is in the correct position as shown in the illustrations. The weight of each beam assembly is approximately 268 kg (590 lb).
Prints for the FT1667 Beam Assembly (Front) and the FT1668 Beam Assembly (Rear) can be ordered from your Division Service Manager. See the Vehicle Systems Disassembly And Assembly section (Form SENR2277) of the Service Manual for 227 Loggers for correct separation procedures and a complete list of the tools needed.
