Wrong Installation Of Washers Between Bearing Cone And Bearing Retainer Nut Can Cause Directional Clutch Damage{3155,3159,3176}

Usage:

14G, 16G Motor Graders

Several examples have been found where directional clutch damage in transmissions of 14G and 16G Motor Graders was caused by wrong installation of the washers between the bearing cone and the bearing retainer nut. It is important that the 6P1736 Tongue Washer be installed next to the bearing cone, and the 6P1735 Lockwasher next to the retainer nut as shown in the illustration. If the lockwasher is not installed next to the retainer nut, the nut can loosen and cause clutch damage.

Since this information is not specifically shown in the Service Manual, make a note of the correct installation of these parts for future reference. This information is to be used for both the forward and reverse directional clutches in the transfer case and gear groups of 14G and 16G Motor Graders.

Correct installation of 6P1736 Tongue Washer and 6P1735 Lockwasher in directional clutches.
