Recommendations For Replacement Of Tandem Drive Chains{4063}

Usage:

All Motor Graders

When heavy loads and high stresses cause failure of a tandem drive chain, a typical point of failure is a broken pin. Tests show that a chain which has a failure of this type will generally have cracks in the bushings of other links. If a repair is made to the chain, the development of these cracks will probably cause a second failure. Also, since the second chain in the same tandem drive normally has a similar stress load, the probable failure of this chain is increased.

For this reason, the recommendation is to use repair links only as an emergency repair, and to install both new chains after a failure of either chain in a tandem drive.
