Spider And Bearing Assembly Must Be Correctly Installed In Drive Shaft-To-Power Control Box Universal Joint{5234,5204,5201}

Usage:

All Motor Graders Equipped With Mechanical Power Control Boxes

A 2D3765 Spider and Bearing Assembly is used between the drive shaft and mechanical power control box on motor graders so equipped.

The spider and bearing assembly must be correctly installed to permit free operation of the joint.

It is important that the spider and bearing assembly is installed so the maximum clearance is between the spider and bearing assembly and the drive shaft. One side of the spider and bearing assembly has an "X" in the casting. This side must be nearest the drive shaft for correct installation.

There is a strap welded across the spider and bearing assembly to hold the bearing caps on during shipment.

Some spider and bearing assemblies, like the one shown in the Illustration, have the bearing caps assembled 180° wrong in relation to the spider. These spider and bearing assemblies can not be installed the way they are assembled.

To make them work, remove the strap, turn the bearing caps 180° and install the spider and bearing assembly with the "X" in the casting toward the drive shaft. It is not necessary to weld the strap on the spider and bearing assembly.

The bearing caps are turned 180° from their correct position. This spider and bearing assembly must not be installed in the universal joint unless the strap is removed and the bearing caps are turned 180°.
