Guidelines For Electrically Grounding Gas Engines {7423}
Usage:
All Caterpillar Gas Engines
The following guidelines are recommended for electrically grounding a gas engine:
-
- * The battery negative terminal (-) should NOT be connected to the cylinder block.
- * All metal cases enclosing electrical/electronic controls should be connected to the cylinder block with an electrical ground strap.
- * The cylinder block should be connected to the customer provided connection to the electrical ground plan/grid.
- * The battery negative terminal (-) should be connected to the customer provided connection to the electrical ground plan/grid.
- * Any flexible connection in the engine cooling circuit pipes should be "jumped" with an electrical ground strap so there is a "continuous" electrical connection from the radiator to the cylinder block.
- * The battery negative terminal (-) should NOT be connected to the cylinder block.
