New Deeper Oil Pan Used In Oil Pan Group; New Oil Level Gauge Marking Chart {1302,1326}

Usage:

3116 (4KG5783-Up, 1SK1725-Up),
3126 (8NM1466-Up) Marine Engines

Description of Change: A new oil pan is used in the oil pan group on these engines. The new oil pan is 9.0 mm (.35 in) deeper than the former oil pan. The advantages of the new oil pan are:

* The front of the engine can be installed down at a 5 degree angle (maximum), but the rear down installation must remain at a 10 degree angle (maximum).
* The new oil pan has a 20.0 mm (.79 in) lower oil level. This will reduce crankshaft dipping and oil aeration which will improve oil consumption on engines with steep installation angles.

The oil refill quantity [25 L (26.5 qt)] remains the same with the new oil pan.

Adaptable To: The new 126-5890 Oil Pan is a direct replacement for the 9Y-3023 Oil Pan in the 117-5123 Oil Pan Group on these engines. The new oil pan is in effect as listed in the subtitle.

NOTE: It is very important to correctly mark the oil level gauge when the new oil pan is installed. See the "New Oil Level Gauge Marking Chart" that follows.
