PROBLEM
The crankshaft counterweight mounting surfaces can experience abnormal amount of fretting. This is more prevalent on 241-0221 Crankshafts but can be experienced on 152-7625 Crankshafts. This fretting can be within or exceeding the Reuse And Salvage Guideline, SEBF8156. In either case, accurate reporting is needed. |

ACTION REQUIRED
During a repair or Planned Component Rebuild inspect the rear counterweight mounting surfaces on the crankshaft. Refer to the Reuse And Salvage Guideline, SEBF8156 to determine if the fretting depth still allows for the appropriate machine stock to true up the counterweight mounting surface. If the fretting depth is within the acceptable machining dimension specified in the reuse and salvage guidelines refer to Service Claim Allowances table for support. If the fretting depth exceeds the acceptable amount specified in the reuse and salvage guidelines refer to the table in Image 1.1 in the Service Claim Allowances for support. In either case, the correct part number and crank shaft serial number must be reported in order to process such claims. |
