Inspect the date code on all 133-9478 Mufflers from dealer parts stock. The date code is located near the CAT emboss on the inlet end of the muffler. The mufflers with the new bracket were manufactured on 12/28/2007 or in 2008. The date code for a muffler that was manufactured first shift on 12/28/2007 will be N287A. The first letter is used to signify the month of the year in the date code, beginning with A for January and ending with N for December. Letters I and L are not used. The next two digits are for the day of the month. The remaining digit is a single digit for the year. The final letter signifies the shift (A=1, B=2, C=3). For example, first shift on the 2nd of January 2008 would be A078A (A=Year January - 07=Day of the month - 8=Year 2008 - A= First shift).
Mufflers with the new brackets will have a N287, (Dec 28 2007), or a 2008 date code. All codes prior will use the older style brackets and need to be removed from dealer parts stock.
