PROBLEM
The existing retaining ring can disengage from the ring groove on certain PS-150B, PS-150C, and PS-200B pneumatic compactors. If the ring disengages from the groove the differential cover will leak hydraulic fluid. |

In Order to allow equitable parts availability to all participating dealers, please limit your initial parts order to not exceed 9% of dealership population. This is an initial order recommendation only, and the ultimate responsibility for ordering the total number of parts needed to satisfy the program lies with the dealer. |
ACTION REQUIRED
Remove all 1368638 Retaining Rings from dealer parts stock. |
Replace the 1368638 Retaining Ring with the improved 3134918 Retaining Ring. Replace the 9X7683 Seal if the cover has been dislodged or is leaking. Use sufficient o-ring lubrication on the seal before reinstalling into the housing. Do not remove the cover if only replacing the retaining ring. |

Inspect all four differential covers for leaking to determine which covers must be removed to replace the seal. Any cover that has moved because the retaining ring is missing or failed should have the seal replaced in addition to the retaining ring. Any leaking cover should be removed to replace the seal. If the retaining ring is seated in the groove and no leaks are observed, do not remove the cover. Replace only the retaining ring. Use this procedure for a differential requiring removal of the cover to replace the seal. 1. Disconnect and cap supply and return lines to the differential in order to drain the differential. May disconnect upper hose either at the differential or most accessible location. 2. Drain the differential from the lower hose fitting (4) in image 1.1.1 or drain plug on the cover. Use a suitable container to collect oil from the differential. 3. Remove cover and replace seal 9X7683. Coat seal with o-ring lube around entire circumference of cover. |

4. Confirm thrust button (6) in image 1.2.1 is intact and in the cover center. Refer to KENR7076 "Remove and Install Axle." 5. Install cover and retaining ring. See Image 1.3.1 for further detail. 6. Reattach hoses to the differential and tighten hose at the tank. 7. Replace hydraulic oil as required. |

For differentials requiring only retaining ring replacement. 1. Relieve hydraulic pressure on the differential by loosening the supply hose fitting. This may be accomplished either at the differential or most accessible location. 2. Tap cover inwards slightly to relieve pressure on the retaining ring. 3. Remove and replace retaining ring with 3134918 ring. 4. Confirm the retaining ring is fully seated into the groove and the ring ends are not binding. See image 1.3.1. If the ring is not fully seated into the groove, file one end to allow the ring to fit. Gap between the ring ends must be maintained as minimal as possible. 5. Tighten hose used to relieve pressure. |
