Introduction
The environmentally responsible Parts Washer (Part No 482-9831),(482-9832 - 220 Volt), (482-9830 - 12 Volt), uses a cleaning solution that is as effective as solvent-based chemicals. This minimizes maintenance effort and provides a satisfying experience and pleasant working environment.
The Parts Washer is easy to maintain and operate. This model has a reservoir of aqueous based solution. The solution is contained in the reservoir. As the pump circulates solution to the work area, it flows through the side-mounted filter. This filter will remove oil and debris. The filter bowl is clear to allow user to see when the filter element is dirty and needs replaced.
General Safety Rules
- Follow all safety codes, and the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).
- Stand on a dry surface when operating the parts washer.
- Make sure that your power source is a standard 12 Volt DC. If a new circuit is required, installation should be done by a licensed professional. A grounded two-wire system is required.
- Always wear eye, face, and hand protection when working with cleaning solutions. Use only recommended solutions.
- Do not use solvents or liquids which have a flash point. DANGER! Using these may cause a fire or explosion.
- Do not operate the machine without the fusible link intact.
- Keep cover down when not in use.
- Do not attempt to modify any part or function of the unit or to circumvent any of the safety features. Altering the equipment will effectively invalidate the warranty and could cause serious injury to the operator.
- Read the entire assembly, set up, operation and maintenance guide before putting equipment into service.
- Read all safety and warning labels on the machine exterior before beginning operation.
- Dispose of spent sludge/solution only in methods approved by all local state and federal codes.
Assembly
- Place washer assembly right side up on smooth level surface.
- Lift the lid open and insert prop rod into the hole provided in the lid bracket.
- Pour 4 gallons of water into the parts washer. Add the 2 gallons of the soap solution to water.
Note: Do not soak parts for more than 6 hours in solution. This may cause damage to parts. Soaking parts for short periods, then brushing away debris will not harm parts. Washing and then letting parts air dry will not harm parts.
- Plug pump cord into pump receptacle on left side of tub behind the red rocker switch.
- Plug the main power cord into a properly grounded 12V DC receptacle. Do not use extension cords.
Note: Make sure that the pump plug is inserted into the receptacle all the way.
- Place the parts washer where you will be using it. Extension cords are not recommended.
- Place part to be cleaned on the grating inside the tub. Turn the red rocker switch to the on position to start flow of degreasing solution. The pump will start.
- Adjust the solution flow out of the flexible spout by turning lever at the base of the spout. Do not turn off lever completely or reduce the flow more than 50%, as it may damage the pump.
- Fill out the warranty card and mail it in.
Inspection
- Inspect all components prior to each use for nicks, burrs, dents, cracks, bends, or worn parts. If damage is found, discontinue use until inspected and released for use by an approved inspector at dealership.
- Inspect all welds and check for damaged, cracked, or bent components.
- Inspect all hardware for damaged threads and cracked or bent components.
- Do not use if bolt holes are elongated.
- Have tools inspected annually by an approved dealership inspector. Maintain a written record of all inspections
Maintenance
Be sure to read all other manuals that come with the other tools. Heed all warnings and safety practices that go along with the maintenance, cleaning, storage, and disposal.
- Unplug unit from electrical source.
- Remove any standing sludge from the area.
Show/hide table
NOTICE Sludge buildup near pump inlet may shorten pump life.
- Dip out the solution and dispose of sludge in the bottom of the reservoir. Return solution to the reservoir. Add necessary solution to maintain the 2 to 1 ratio of water to solution. Make sure that the level is below top of work grating. (If replacing all 6 gallons of the solution dispose of used solution in accordance with all Federal, State and Local Laws and ordinances.) Fill tub with 4 gallons of water and 2 gallons of soap solution.
- To replace filter element, position filter on the parts washer over a can or bowl to catch any spillage that may occur.
- Unscrew the clear filter bowl from the filter head. Wipe out any debris from inside the bowl. Replace filter element with new element. Dispose of used element in accordance with all Federal, State, and Local ordinances.
- Replace filter bowl with new element back on the filter head by screwing clear filter bowl back on. Tighten securely by hand.
- Plug the main power cord into a properly grounded 12 volt DC receptacle. Test for leaks by turning on pump and watching for any leaks around the filter bowl and fittings in the tub.
NOTICE |
---|
Always unplug unit from power source, and close lid and latches before moving the Parts Washer. The gasket on the lid is designed to prevent solution from splashing out if held upright. It will not prevent leakage if turned on the side or upside down. |
NOTICE |
---|
Do not allow machine to run unattended, turn switch to off position at the end of the day. |
Directions
- Pour in 2 gallons of the PBA735 cleaning solution into the parts washer.
- Add 1 gallon of PBA734 Extreme Clean.
- Fill with 3 gallons of water.
Note: Refer to owner's manual for complete set-up instructions.
Extreme Clean is intended as an additive that will boost your parts washer cleaning effectiveness by removing hard to clean synthetic greases, and other designed water proof products. For more information, contact Dealer Service Tools.
NOTICE |
---|
Extreme Clean is for industrial use only. Avoid contact with eyes. If splashed in eyes, flush with water. If irritation occurs, consult a physician. OSHA requirements recommend wearing protective eye wear and rubber gloves when using all cleaning compounds. Protect from freezing. |
