Cleaning the DOC Catalyst (Optional Equipment)
The catalyst should be cleaned if a loss in emissions reduction or an increase in back pressure becomes excessive. A rise in temperature may indicate a need to clean the catalyst. The contamination in the exhaust stream will determine the schedule for cleaning.
Note: Prior to removal of the catalyst, identify the position of the catalysts and airflow direction. Ensure that the catalyst part number position and the air flow direction remain the same.
Vacuum Cleaning the DOC Catalyst
The catalysts should be removed before cleaning. Consult your Cat dealer for the procedure to remove the catalyst. Using a vacuum is the preferred method of cleaning. Vacuum should be equipped with a HEPA filter. Use the vacuum on the inlet side of the catalyst. Do not use compressed air in cleaning the catalyst. Compressed air can remove the catalyst from the substrate. Clean all loose debris from the catalyst before reinstalling.
