High Fuel Rail Pressure Alarm May Malfunction on Certain Generator Sets {7610, 7620}

Usage:

C175-20 BXR
Generator Set
C175-16 GEN SET (S/N: WYB1-UP)
C175-20 (S/N: BXR1-UP)

Introduction

The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.

Problem

The following issues have been found to occur due to high fuel rail pressure alarm malfunction:

  • Fault alarm active on Electronic Module Control Panel (EMCP) after engine shutdown.

  • Fault alarm may cause nuisance site alarms at engine shutdown depending on fault monitoring strategy. Alarm may require manual reset on EMCP to silence.

Note: Fault alarm has no effect on engine performance and will clear upon next start.

Solution

Caterpillar is aware of the problem and the permanent solution is under development. As an interim repair, replace the part numbers listed in Table 1 with the same part number.
