Electronic Unit Injector - Remove and Install

Start By:

  1. Remove the rocker arms and the rocker arm shaft.

  2. Remove the fuel lines.


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Loosen nut (2) and remove harness assembly (1).

    NOTICE

    If the injector hold down bolt is loose during the removal procedure, inspect the injector bore for wear and debris. Replace the clamp and spacer.


  2. Remove valve blocks (5). Note the location and orientation of the valve blocks for installation purposes.

  3. Remove bolt (3) from clamp (4).

  4. Place an identification mark on electronic unit injector (6) for installation purposes. Each electronic unit injector must be reinstalled in the original location in the cylinder head.

  5. Use Tooling (A) to remove electronic unit injector (6) and clamp (4) from the cylinder head.

  6. Remove washer (7) and O-ring seal (8) from electronic unit injector (6).

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Install electronic unit injector (6) in the reverse order of removal.

    Note: Install electronic unit injector (6) into the original location in the cylinder head.

    1. Use Tooling (B) to hold washer (7) to the nozzle of electronic unit injector (6).

    2. Lubricate O-ring seal (8) with Tooling (B).

    3. Tighten bolt (3) to a torque of 35 ± 2 N·m (26 ± 1.5 lb ft).
