Rocker Arm and Shaft - Remove and Install

Usage:

C12.9 PC7

Start By:

  1. Remove valve mechanism cover.

  1. Remove clip (1).

  2. Install Tooling (A) to and attach a suitable lifting device to rocker arm assembly (2). Rocker arm assembly (2) weighs approximately 13 kg (29 lb).

  3. Loosen bolts (4) and remove bolts (3). Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to remove rocker arm assembly (2). The weight of rocker arm assembly (2) is approximately 37 kg (81 lb). Remove valve blocks (5).

Installation Procedure


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.


  1. Install rocker arm assembly (2) in the reverse order of removal.

    1. Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 25 N·m (221 lb in) using the following tightening sequence. Then, tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 60 N·m (44 lb ft) using the same tightening sequence. Next, tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 80 N·m (59 lb ft) using the same tightening sequence. Finally, tighten bolts (3) an extra 60 degrees.

    2. Adjust the valve lash of the rocker arms. Refer to Test and Adjust, "Engine Valve Lash - Inspect/Adjust" for the correct procedure.
