Engine Oil Cooler - Disassemble

Usage:

G3520J N22

Disassembly Procedure

Start By:

  1. Remove the engine oil cooler.

Note: Check the O-ring seals, the gaskets, and the seals for wear or for damage. Replace the components, if necessary.


NOTICE

Keep all parts clean from contaminants.

Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

  1. Remove the bolts from elbow (1). Remove elbow (1) and tube (2) from the engine oil cooler.

  2. Remove tube (2) and the O-ring seals from elbow (1).

  3. Place an identification mark on bonnet (4) and on engine oil cooler core (3) for assembly purposes. Remove bonnet (4) from engine oil cooler core (3).

  4. Remove the bolts and elbow (6) from the engine oil cooler bypass. Remove the O-ring seals from elbow (6).

  5. Remove elbow (8) and tube (7) from elbow (6). Remove the O-ring seals from tube (7).

  6. Remove the tube from bonnet (5).

    ------ WARNING! ------

    Personal injury can result from parts and/or covers under spring pressure.

    Spring force will be released when covers are removed.

    Be prepared to hold spring loaded covers as the bolts are loosened.


  7. Remove bolts (13), cover (9), O-ring seal (10), spring (11), and bypass valve (12) from elbow (6).

  8. Place an identification mark on bonnet (5) and on engine oil cooler core (3) for assembly purposes. Remove bonnet (5) and the gasket.

  9. Remove drain plug (15) and the O-ring seal, if necessary.

  10. Remove cover (14) and the O-ring seal, if necessary.
